Kohelet’s “style reflects the elements both of similarity and of difference which mark his relationship to his contemporaries”

Koheleth is the product of Hebrew life and thought and must be viewed against that background, but he represents a definitely individual interpretation of the tradition he inherited, and so cannot be understood purely in terms of parallels.  His style reflects the elements both of similarity and of difference which mark his relationship to his contemporaries.
