I think, in a Torah community, it’s vital to the definition of a Torah community that we think that knowing more Torah, in some way, privileges you in a values conversation and that we all aspire to live our lives in the deepest Torah way we can. But also, and I think this is, perhaps, more in Modern Orthodoxy, that we also think that there is real value in making autonomous decisions.
